The Latela Art Gallery is currently accepting internship applications for Spring 2018.

1. Development, Marketing & Public Relations Intern

We are looking for an intern with development & public relation skills to help us grow our audience for collaborations on private events, art exhibitions and many of our other services. The position will take place 100% in the gallery. This is an unpaid internship and requires a three or six month, 15-30 hours a week commitment. Schedule can be flexible for the right person. 

Regular internship tasks:

- Outreach & marketing to expand audience for services

- Writing submissions for press stories (magazines, online blogs, etc.)

- Development of sponsorship packages & database

- Communication with sponsors

- Applying to grants & heading funding campaigns

- Organization of sponsor & membership events

- Handling some social media outreach

Requirements: 

* MA in Communication, Business Development and/or Marketing preferred. An MA from the Arts Administration, Fine Art, Art History, and/or similar Curatorial Studies programs may be considered. BA students who have demonstrated commitment to this field will also be considered. 

*Coursework on public relations, communication, marketing and/or sponsorship development

*Demonstrated skills writing press releases

*Experience talking to donors, creating sponsorship packages and funding campaigns is a plus!

2. Photography Intern

We are looking for an intern to be very hands on with creating some of our creative content!

The position will take place 50% in the gallery, 50% off site. In the gallery, the intern will work with the curator, art consultant & artists to photograph works of art, artists, their creative process & a variety of other behind the scenes themes. During off-site hours, intern will edit photographs and may be sent to locations where artwork is hanging to photograph for the gallery.

We are a very fun team with a lot of exciting projects coming up. The internship offers the opportunity to exercise skills needed for a vast variety of businesses, but also offers exposure to the art world. This is an unpaid internship and requires a three-six month, 20 hour per week commitment. 

Requirements: 

*MA in Photography preferred. BA students who can demonstrate commitment to this field will be considered. 

*Superior photography skills & your own equipment. We can provide a hard-drive to store content if needed.

*Demonstrated photography experience working with content management for creative businesses.

3. Curatorial Assistant Intern

We are looking for someone interested in a career as a curator to learn the ropes of working with artists in an art gallery. The position will take place 75% in the gallery, 25% off site. In the gallery, the intern will assist with all duties relating to upcoming exhibitions: inventories, contracts, exhibition design & installation, hanging artworks, and much more! During off-site hours, intern will handle some correspondence with staff and artists.

We are a very fun team with a lot of exciting projects coming up. The internship offers the opportunity to exercise skills needed for a vast variety of businesses, but also offers exposure to the art world. This is an unpaid internship and requires a three-six month, 30 hour per week commitment. 

Requirements: 

*MA in Art History, Curatorial Studies or Art Administration preferred. BA students who can demonstrate commitment to this field may be considered. 

*Superior written and verbal communication skills

*Extremely organized and detail-oriented

*Demonstrated exhibition curatorial experience is a plus!
